Who knew Barbie could be so fashionable?

Who knew Barbie could be so fashionable? It's true, people usually look at Barbie as a kid's toy that gets dragged along wherever they go. But how about a fashion icon? People forget about Barbie when they grow up, but some people I know could definitely use some fashion advice from Barbie. Just the little details and designs make a Barbie something that is hard to take your eyes off. My favorite Barbie here is the first picture- I love her veil and I think it is very fashionable. Also the sketch of a Barbie I like a whole lot because I have always wanted to be able to draw like that. It's just happy to rekindle that happiness that you had when you were a kid.

Shopping your own closet.

Here are some really cool outfits I put together with my friend. I shopped my own closet, you could say. I would wear all of these things out and about. Yes, in the last few pictures she is wearing blue tights on her arm, a fur coat, and a sweater. From the top- leather jacket from Forever 21, the blue skirt is vintage material, and the white blouse is from H&M. The second outfit- shirt is from J Crew, skirt from Justice, and I made the necklace. Third outfit- crop top from American Apparel and the skirt was brought to me from Brazil. Last outfit- romper from Justice, fur coat from Gap, tights from We Love Colors (here), which is the B-E-S-T, BEST place to find tights. I feel that the necessities of a women's closet includes a leather jacket and a fur coat. They both go good with anything. One last things before I sign off, I think fur should be spelled furr, with two r's. I feel like it makes more sense that way, it feels more international, refined, cultured. Anyway, send me some pics of your favorite outfits at peachie.peachie101@gmail.com and if I have the time I'd love to post about them.

Summer Nights

Take a look at these videos, the first one is from Glee. The second is from the original Grease movie. See how it has changed but how it hasn't either. In the original Grease all the girls are wearing long skirts- which are actually kind of cute I think although I usually like the more loose ones. Rachel is the only one wearing the same skirt as the girls in Grease in Glee, and I like her little cape that she's wearing- even if it's not a flattering shade of red. I also love the scarves they wear in Grease that are like little silk accessories that they tie around their necks. I like the leather jackets the guys wear, even though it might've been switched to football jackets in Glee. I also love this song and the dancing. Peachie!

Black Boots & Beads

These boots were definitely worth blogging about. Boots, heels, I just don't know. Those aren't heels but maybe you could call them claws. They have zippers up the side and laces up the front. As dangerous as they look, they're sort of fun to walk in because it's not actually a heel. They also have cheetah print on the inside of the heel as you can see in the third picture from the top. I made the piece of art (last picture) out of beads, paint sticks, crushed shells, sand, string, and little beads on canvas. Back to the shoes- they'd be great with jeans, super red lipstick, a white wool turtleneck, and a fur coat. I would definitely wear that.

Guadeloupe & Color Blind?

Above are some shops on the island of Guadelope in the Caribbean. Most of the pictures are color coated in pink, blue, etc. For some unknown reason I love seeing all of the same color in the same place on different items. It just makes me think- "Hey, there is a whole lot of color out there." And then I think, is there another color that we don't know about? I mean that would be strange, if there is and we don't even know about it. Maybe it's a cross between blue and orange (brown?) or beige and maroon (pink?). I love how you can just find fashion in the most random places, for example the picture with blue clothing above. The store is a shack, but I guess that makes it all the better when you find something and you can say- "Oh, yeah, I just bought this on an island in the Caribbean on the side of the road." And then you get showered in compliments. Anyway, stepping out of the little daydream- what should my next poll be about? You guys decide- please leave comments!

Airplane!

My absolute favorite movie on the face of this earth is Airplane! (the title does include an exclamation mark). It was made in 1980, not very recent, but, hey, old movies are the best. You can find it on Netflix if you have an account and play it instantly. It's a HILARIOUS movie and I can't watch it enough. You know when you read a book or watch a movie twice in a row and you just can't watch it or read it again? That never happens with this movie, every time you watch it, something new surprises you. One of my friends says: "It's random but really funny." It's amazing! You have to watch it, no doubt about it.

Gloves, gloves, gloves, what can you do about it?

J. Crew was sporting the cutest decoration when I went the other day. I love the pattern they laid these gloves out in. I like how they're laid out in an uneven pattern and not just the whole wall, but unevenly placed on two walls. Who knew somebody could get so many gloves- maybe ordering in bulk? I think it would be nice if there were different types of gloves. More variation. Anyway, I love this decoration or "wall piece" if you could call it that and I also think it's insanely creative.

1970 + 2012= Cream Colored Heels?

I bought the cutest shoes the other day at DSW for some parties that are coming up for me. They're a mix of 1970's and modern day style. I love the buttons along the side that remind me of the 1970's and the sleek cream + black combination. I'm wearing them here with lace pink tights with roses on them. I'm wearing them with the dress from Delias, (here). I love this outfit and (if I had one), it would go perfectly with a pink fur coat.
And hurray for the most popular styles: Chic and Unique! I only voted for Unique + Bohemian! Both are my style but I think a little Chic is coming in! Thanks for voting, a new poll should be up any day now!

Fashion Week!

I was luckily able to go to a fashion show, part of New York Fashion Week, this weekend. This show was for Christian Siriano- he won Project Runway in Season 4. I love Project Runway! Although I didn't have the best seats- I could still see what was going on. More or less. I got to go backstage also and take a look at the hair and makeup team. I didn't get there in time to actually see them doing hair and makeup though! I love at fashion shows where the music is blaring and the beat goes with the way a model walks. Watching a model walk is like a sport. I felt bad for one model at the end of this show- she was wearing a great gown but was so slow and she was the last one off the runway. I felt so bad! My friend and I saw her running off when she got backstage. It was so crowded and we were standing in the back with a dangerously wobbly bar behind us. At this fashion show, not only the models, but so many people were wearing fur coats! I've always wanted a fur coat- a pink one. I'm looking for a fake one. Men and women alike were wearing fur hats, coats, everything. It was crazy and it definitely made me want to get a fur coat. So go buy yourself a fur coat, it's in style! Here are some pics:

A look backstage at all the preparation for the big show.
The Aveda hair team led by Antoinette Beenders
A pre-show rehearsal.
See how big the space is at first-it gets so crowded! Unfortunately we didn't get any goody bags (or bags filled with makeup) because we didn't have actual seats!
Christian Siriano- in the gray jacket- (probably making some last minutes touches) came out from backstage.
Eventually the show did get started and you can see how crowded it was.

(My favorite one is above-a leather jacket and a floor length tutu!)
Fur coats- didn't I tell you?
Full out leather dress, I've got to say it's not one of my favorites.

The final moment on the runway where all the models come in a line and you get to see all the looks at once. The colors and outfits coming down the runway were great but I didn't think they worked well together.
Some shoes I spotted outside the show- strange, because they were not people I knew. I still liked them though and felt compelled to take a picture.
At the end of the show we saw the models rushing out of the building- probably to other shows- and it was funny to see them out of 'character'. I had a great time at this fashion show! Arrivederci!
