Mary Adams

Mary Adams. If you've never heard that name, go look it up. She is an amazing designer. I love these designs for their simplicity and  color. And many layers of petticoats. My favorite photo from her book, entitled, The Party Dress Book, is the fifth one from the top. It looks to me like fashion can be more than just an itchy top and too-high heels, but something you can wear with friends anytime of day, anywhere, and for any reason. Which is true, fashion is what you want to be. It's something you can't say with words-- because who would say, "My outfit is clearly better than your outfit. And everybody here sees that-- so when they compliment you on that ugly pea-colored sweater-- at least you'll know what hit you"? Hopefully no one, if you would-- it's time to see a psychiatrist.  Now, if you're not interested in fashion,no problem- although I'm sure it helps at an interview. Just like shaking somebody's hand firmly and looking them in the eye. It doesn't hurt to make an effort-- at least they know you're trying.  This is just some eye candy until next post which will definitely be long. I'm embarking on a journey to India very soon and my next post will not be for a couple weeks. Hoping to come back with inspiration and plenty of photos. Arrivedeci! Or rather "Namaskaar!" in this case.

Favorite Three

What are my favorite three things I've seen this week? Well, little me, bag in hand, I look around the world to find the best dressed, best flavored, and best styled items. The drab, dull appearances of others are just too aggravating. And then there is the trying-too-hard outfit which usually consists of skinny jeans and some other form of revealing clothing that practically reads "I'm so mainstream I can't even pick out my own outfit" all over it. So go do something fun with your appearance- some eye popping colorful jewelry or a hair cut you've been dying to get. You only have one life and you might as well live it how you want to live it- not like anybody else wants you to live it. My three favorite things this week are:
A card pretty much screaming 'creative' with Barbie shoes all over it. It might as well be a piece of art in itself, it's so fun to look at.

A pale yellow shoulder bag from Forever 21- (who wouldn't like the chain handle?).

And the latest issue of Teen Vogue's cover. Easter egg colors are coming into style now-- just by the cover you can see this with all the yellow, pale blue, and spunky colored type.

Newspaper Nails

I found this great video on youtube about how to newspaper-ify your nails. I tried it and usually it works, you just have to let everything dry. It's a fun and festive way to show your style while still staying in the color realm of black and white. It can be formal for a fancy dinner party or stylish just for walking down the street. Also, if you have the time, check out some other videos by cutepolish on youtube. I especially like the Tribal Aztec Nails!

I guess candy isn't that bad for you.

I guess candy isn't that bad for you. It's inspirational. Just looking at all the flavors and seeing that they are all ordered perfectly is satisfying. Tying into this candy rage, the last sketch is made out of lollipop wrappers. And these wrappers were even harder to stick on then the pencil shavings (go back a few posts).

Hey, Hey We're the Monkees!

Remembering Davy Jones from the Monkees, here is a little clip of a song he sings- Daydream Believer. If you haven't seen their show, The Monkees, I recommend watching it. Davy Jones is the one singing the song but he recently passed away at age 66.
